Course Description

The final weeks of 2020 present a critical planning window for advisors to connect with clients, prospects, and centers of influence on the best tax planning options, many of which may disappear after December 31.

2020 brought massive layoffs and early retirements, but that means rollovers and tax retirement, and estate planning tactics can be used by year-end. In addition to layoffs, the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in massive illness and lost business income. The CARES Act created relief options, but those end after this year. Now is the time to identify clients, prospects, and referral sources to help take advantage of these strategies’ closing window. Additionally, the SECURE Act has eliminated the stretch IRA for many beneficiaries and clients. This is in effect now, and clients need immediate solutions. Every IRA and company plan is affected.

This webinar features CPA and recognized IRA Expert Ed Slott taking you through his seven best strategies to help clients reap tax savings from tax planning moves that may not be available after December 31.

There is no time to waste. Financial advisors have an immediate opportunity to provide valuable planning strategies needed now by clients with retirement accounts. The advice you share in these final weeks of 2020 can impact the clients and their families for years, decades, and generations to come.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify how to turn a layoff or early retirement into a year-end tax planning opportunity

  • Demonstrate how to help COVID-19 affected clients and prospects take advantage of tax relief breaks expiring December 31

  • Identify the ways your client can take advantage of historically low tax rates that may not last beyond 2020

  • Demonstrate how to advise on year-end Roth conversions to eliminate the uncertainty of future higher tax bills

  • Identify last-minute tax-efficient charitable planning strategies using QCDs (qualified charitable distributions)
